Launch of the second edition of Wimbart Office Hours

Wimbart, the public relations agency specializing in Africa and emerging markets, has launched the second edition of its Office Hours program, which provides early-stage tech start-ups with the necessary public relations and communications tools to help them to develop their activities. In partnership with pan-African startup fund Ventures Platform and leading media platform Techpoint Africa, the three-month program will provide public relations and business mentorship to 30 Africa-focused start-ups. Targeting tech start-ups that create solutions for Africans on the continent or in the Diaspora, eligible start-ups must be under two years old, have a minimum viable product and be pre-series A. Launched in March 2020, the Wimbart Office Hours pilot program saw 22 start-ups, including Crop2Cash, Ecodudu and Wellahealth, selected from a pool of more than 80 applicants from Africa, Europe and the United States. Successful start-ups participated in an in-depth PR + Q&A webinar with Wimbart Founder and CEO Jessica Hope, followed by dedicated one-on-one sessions with senior members of the Wimbart team, which covered in depth how PR might support their specific needs. business goals. Office Hours attendees reported impressive milestones, including coverage in leading international and pan-African media, increased customer attraction and investor interest, among early results. The spirit and practical nature of the program is expected to continue as Wimbart has launched an online alumni network to continue supporting early stage start-ups and enabling peer-to-peer collaboration.

Starting in August 2020, the second Wimbart Office Hours cohort will have access to three expert webinars led by Jessica Hope, who will be joined by Kola Aina, Founder and CEO of Ventures Platform, and Adewale Yusuf, Founder and CEO of Techpoint. The webinars will focus on the importance of communication for growth, investment and reputation management. These will be followed by three one-on-one sessions dedicated to PR office hours with senior members of the Wimbart team, and one corporate mentoring session with a Ventures Platform advisor.
