How to Quickly and Easily Enable Facial Recognition on Windows 11

0

Microsoft’s Windows 11 operating system supports several biometric device unlocking features, including facial recognition through Windows Hello.

This feature has been around for many years and is offered as a way to ditch passwords and PINs in favor of a more secure method of authentication, such as fingerprint and face. However, these features require hardware like a fingerprint reader and an IR or Intel RealSense camera.

In this step-by-step guide, we will show you how to enable facial recognition feature through Windows Hello on Windows 11 computer.

How to enable facial recognition on Windows 11

Step 1: Open the Settings app on the Windows 11 computer. To do this, open the Start menu and click on the Settings app or search for the app and select it from the search results.

2nd step: When the Settings app opens, click on the “Accounts” option on the left sidebar.

Step 3: After that, click “Login Options” on the right side of the window.

Step 4: In the “Ways to sign in” section, select the “Face recognition (Windows Hello)” setting.

Step 5: Once done, click on the “Configure” button and then click on the “Start” button.

Step 6: You will then be asked to confirm your password or PIN. Do this.

Step 7: After that, look directly into the camera to create a facial recognition profile.

Step 8: When the process is complete, click the “Close” button.

That’s it. Once you have completed all the steps mentioned above, you can lock the device by pressing Windows + L keys and then use face recognition to unlock the system by looking into the camera to log in.

Although the feature is very useful, there may be issues from time to time. If this is the case and the login experience is not as good as expected, you can click the “Improve recognition” option under the “Face recognition (Windows Hello)” settings to continue practicing and to improve the system.
