Reports to: Director, Strategy Compliance and Business Development

Purpose of the work

Oversee the effective development and implementation of the organization’s strategic planning processes and corporate performance contracting process as well as the monitoring and compliance of performance contracts for the organization.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Develop the Agency’s strategic plan;
  • Coordinate strategic implementation, monitoring and review;
  • Lead the annual performance contracting process by designing the Agency’s annual work plan as derived from the strategic plan, Vision 2030 development plan and performance contracting guidelines;
  • Ensure the effective cascading of the company’s annual work plan and the performance contract of the respective decisions and departments;
  • Lead the design and implementation of an agency monitoring and evaluation framework and liaising with other divisions / departments;
  • Oversee effective periodic monitoring, evaluation and reporting of agency activities as outlined in the strategic plan, annual work plan and performance contract;
  • Gather and monitor the budget to support the achievement of the Agency’s strategic objectives in consultation with financial and technical services;
  • Identify strategic opportunities and risks and advise management on the appropriate course of action;
  • Liaise with other departments to develop or revise various strategies to support programs / projects under KenTrade;
  • Develop and implement appropriate and strategic networks, collaboration, linkages and partnerships with national and international stakeholders to support KenTrade in liaison with other divisions;
  • Ensure reports relating to trade and logistics statistics are prepared and analyzed to inform management decisions.
  • Minimum academic, professional and experience qualifications

    • Master in economics, strategic management, administration / business management from a recognized institution;
    • Bachelor’s degree in social sciences, economics, business administration, commerce or related field from a recognized institution;
    • Leadership management course lasting at least four (4) weeks at a recognized institution;
    • Certificate in computer application;
    • Membership of a relevant professional body;
    • At least nine (9) years of experience, including four (4) in a management position;
    • Professional certification in economics, strategic management or any relevant certification
    • Must meet the provisions of Chapter Six of the Constitution.

    • Authorisation Anti-Corruption and Ethics Authority (EACC) form
    • Authorisation certificate from a recognized credit reference bureau (CRB)
