The World Wide Web is home to countless pages relating to every subject imaginable. Despite the vast choice offered by the Internet, many users find themselves visiting the same handful of websites over and over again. According to a new report, there are five popular websites that surpass the rest in terms of global traffic.
To determine the most visited sites in the world, website creation provider Zyro analyzed Internet data from SimilarWeb. They ranked Google at the top of the list. Web browsers around the world invest a total of 213.2 billion hours in the search engine, spending an average of 11 minutes and 58 seconds per session.
The other four websites on the list are all social media platforms of some sort. In second place is YouTube, which accumulates 142.6 billion hours of browsing per year. The site also displays the longest average visits with 21 minutes and 53 seconds. Facebook, Twitter and Instagram make up the rest of the ranking.
Web browsing habits in the United States are not much different from those in the rest of the world. The list of the most visited sites in the United States also includes Google, YouTube, Facebook and Twitter in the top four places. The only difference is that Yahoo is replacing the Instagram social media site at # 5.
