UPSC calls for applications for joint secretary and director level positions

UPSC 2021 Recruitment: The Union Civil Service Commission recently issued a notification indicating that the Indian government has submitted a request for the recruitment of secretary and director level officers. Online applications have been invited by talented Indian nationals who wish to contribute to nation building by joining the government at the level of Joint Secretary or Director. Educational credentials required

The Government of India has invited applications at the level of Joint Secretary or Director, Group A. Applications are invited for the mentioned positions in different ministries / departments headquartered in New Delhi on a contractual basis (on the delegation of officers of the States / UT executives, public sector companies (PSU), autonomous bodies, statutory bodies, universities, recognized research institutes). Here are the essential qualifications required in some of the positions according to the recruitment notice.

Deputy Secretary in the Department of Agricultural Cooperation

  • Diploma of studies: Master’s degree in agriculture / horticulture / microbiology / agricultural extension / agricultural economics / agricultural marketing / organic farming / crop science from a recognized university / institute
  • Professional experience: At least fifteen years of experience in one of the following areas: (i) Agricultural extension (ii) Soil health and nutrient management (iii) Planting (iv) Agricultural census (v) Agricultural marketing and trade (vi) Agriculture Credits (vii) Crop insurance (viii) Drought management (ix) Horticulture development (x) Mechanization and agricultural technology (xi) Natural resource management (xii) Seeds and oilseeds (xiii) Protection plants (xiv) Rainfed agriculture and irrigation (xv) Crop management (xvi) Organic agriculture.

Deputy Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce

  • Education: Master’s degree in business administration or economics or commerce or business economics or foreign trade from a recognized university or institute.
  • Experience: At least 15 years of experience in (i) managing cloud technology implementation at national level and (ii) should have served in Senior Project Manager / System Architect / CTO positions in previous jobs

Co-secretary at the Revenue Department, Ministry of Finance

  • Education: Master’s degree in economics or commerce or finance or business administration or professional qualification in chartered accountancy.
  • Experience: Fifteen years of experience in one of the following areas: (a) Income Tax (b) Customs / Gold Control (c) GST (All taxes in effect before the introduction of GST) (d) Narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances (e) Financial intelligence and prevention of money laundering.

Age limit and payment details for recruiting an assistant secretary

According to the notification, the minimum and maximum age limits for the post of co-secretary are 40 and 55 years old, respectively. The remuneration will be set at the minimum of the remuneration level-14 in the remuneration matrix in accordance with the 7th CPC. The approximate gross salary would be around Rs. 2,21,000 / which will include DA, Tpt A and HRA at current level. The minimum and maximum age limits for the post of director are 35 and 45 years old. The remuneration will be set at the minimum of the remuneration level-13 in the remuneration matrix in accordance with the 7th CPC. The approximate gross salary would be around Rs. 1.82,000 / – including DA, Tpt A & HRA at current level.
